Consulting services focus on strategic and practical solutions you can implement immediately to bring relief to frustrating and stressful situations or behaviors.  No fluff – just straight, no-nonsense talk.
I currently offer individual consulting through two different options designed to help you resolve specific concerns or issues which come up in the course of budgeting.
In Home Assessment
An In-Home family assessment, similar to the popular TV show Til Debt Do Us Part is the most efficient way of finding real solutions that fit your family.  I will make an appointment to come to your home to address your budgeting dilemmas in person, with everyone present and see what your world is really like. By spending time with you and your family I can assess the situation first hand and determine what systems, structures or techniques aren’t serving you well and create a plan of action to make positive change.  You will receive individual advice and recommendations specific to your needs and a plan to get you headed in the right direction. This service is only available to families within a 30 miles radius of Thousand Oaks.

Included:
§  A three hour in home observation visit
§  One hour in home follow-up consultation reviewing recommendations, goals, customized tools and solutions (such a debt boards, budgets, savings, etc.)
§  Written follow-up summary complete with all recommendations
§  A free 15 minute phone consultation to provide clarification and/support after your scheduled home visit

Christmas is Always in December!

Are you ready?  Did you plan this year ahead of time?  Did you save up?  Or is "planning" using a credit card and paying it off for the next year. Our family hasn't used credit cards personally to charge any item at all since 2001!!!!!  And I'm still paying them off.  Can you imagine the Christmas presents and interest I've paid? How To Give Your Budget A Kick In The Pants

Multi-Tasking Doing things step by step is a good idea.  We follow Dave Ramsey's principals.  It keeps you focused on one single goal.  Multi-tasking is not my forte, so I've learned to do one thing well and when it is finished move on to the next thing. In life, this doesn't always work.  With three kids, sometimes I need to do three things at once.  Usually no one gets my full attention and nothing is completed quickly or accurately.  Sometimes I don't even hear what they say.  So to focus on one child at a time while the other two wait, works much better for me. Even in cooking when the rice needs to cook while the chicken is baking and the veggies need to be steamed, I usually get two of the three done and we end up waiting for the third thing to finish cooking.  Our home budget had been humming along in slow mode.  Small deposits going into multiple tiny sinking funds, for future purchases: Christmas, auto repairs, animals, accountant, insurance.  Nothing

Christmas is Almost Here!

Well, the kidlets are out of school for two whole weeks!  I'm finishing up the last of the shopping online.  One down, one to go.  DS last present is the only thing left to buy! The week had its ups and downs with spending.  I didn't actually budget for any lunches out, but I ended up spending quite a bit in that department.  I should just plan for a few "running around town, need a bite" type meals.  Although after a fun afternoon yesterday with friends at MickeyD's, I did manage to get me and all the kids to eat at home today and we had frozen pizza for dinner last night too.  I warmed up pizza for them to eat in the car between softball practices.  That saved me at least $20+.  Now all the kids and two friends are running around outside while I finish the online shopping and balance the checkbooks.  So nice they aren't being lazy all afternoon watching tv!  Love it! Been planning the last payoff of a computer loan.  Looking forward to bidding that adeiu!
